In Week 8 we will be celebrating Harmony Week – a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it. Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.
On Thursday the 24th March, students can come to school dressed in traditional clothing that reflects their diverse cultural backgrounds. Students can also dress in the colour Orange – to signify strong social communications and conversations in our communities. Students can wear their traditional clothing to school and bring a change of clothes for later in the day to participate in sports, if necessary.
More information about Harmony Day can be found here: https://www.harmony.gov.au/about
We look forward to celebrating our wonderful multicultural communities at Tuart Hill – keep your eyes open for some photos of our celebrations in the coming weeks’ eNews.
